ALLERGY AND ASTHMA IN THE SOUTHWESTERN UNITED STATES 

Honey Bees - Apis mellifera 

Pale yellow and black striped abdomen, hairy.  Sting apparatus left in the skin after stinging.  Up to 60,000 workers per colony.  Bees in southern Arizona, parts of west Texas and southern California are now extensively Africanized.
